Action Steps for Affordable Healthy Living
- Cut Food Costs in Half with Protective Diet Kitchen Systems & Staples
- Watch PD-Ed Classes #032, #033 and #034 for detailed guidance on setting up your foundational PD Pantry over time.
- Coupled with your fresh restock, these pantry items are the only essential ingredients needed to make PD recipes.
- Get proficient with this inventory by sticking with Protective Diet Education recipes. Soon you will have it memorized.
- Follow the guidance in PD-Ed Class #087 to maintain your pantry inventory at huge food cost savings.
- This inventory doesn’t change. It makes sense to buy in bulk and stock up when you find a good sale. Buy a case or more.
- The food cost savings on a Protective Diet will be evident after a couple of months. The money you save from eliminating animal products and processed foods can be used to buy essential kitchen tools and high-quality, protective foods in bulk.
- Include local ethnic markets, produce markets, spice markets & tortillarias in your search for the best price.
Cutting Food Costs
- Higher ticket items, such as tamari, white chia seed and erythritol, will last a long time because they are used by the
Tablespoon. Example: for less than 3T. of white chia seed, you can produce 1 full quart of protective salad dressing. These
are not weekly purchases like meat, cheese, eggs and packaged foods used to be.
- Save By Eliminating Purchases of: oil, nuts, candy, french fries, ice cream, chips, veggie burgers, salad dressings, salsa,
meat & fish, eggs, cheese, sports drinks and vitamin waters, etc.

Cooking Tips
- Invest in an Air Popper for the most convenient, protective snack that’s perfect for the whole family.
- Ice cream makers can be found at the thrift store in winter. Be sure it has all 4 pieces: the base, the freezer container, the mixing paddle and the plastic cover. Use an ice cream scoop for the PD Scoop and Storage System.
- Use savings to buy organic parsley & leafy greens. They are pesticide-free and higher in nutrients because of higher soil quality.
- If you don’t like parsley, keep tasting it. It’s a great way to get greens into your diet. The taste is slightly muted when it’s cooked.
- Find international markets in your area for lower prices on many ethnic ingredients & fresh produce used on a Protective Diet.
- The Blend Tec with 4-sided jar is essential for making creamy sauces, dressings, puddings and more. The Vitamix also works.
