It’s Time to Feast!
Eating One Meal a Day Feels Like Thanksgiving Everyday We practice the rewarding rhythm of OMAD, one meal a day, enjoying our daily feast right after sunset. We work efficiently all day and get a burst of energy in the evening. It might be because our fat-burning potential is really high during that time, or because we are working with plant fibers that our microbes love so they produce neurotransmitters that make us feel high. Meal preparation is exciting. We celebrate every day with Protective Diet feasts and the recipes make it so easy. We have maintained our weight for 7 years at a very low BMI by fasting and feasting, burning body fat as fuel. This practice is such a gift. Add Day Fasting (OMAD) if you are in a health crisis and need to reverse disease fast. If you are morbidly obese and want to get the weight off of your joints, and improve bone health, dive into one meal a day with me. I’ll walk you through it.
Protective Diet Recipes are designed to be foolproof, so you don’t even need to taste them while cooking. Just follow the instructions and measurements exactly. These recipes use very innovative methods. Follow the directions word for word. Trust me, I will never leave you guessing.
Feast Freely on a Protective Diet Don’t be deceived. PD pies and breads will never make you fat. Clean as you go, so all you have left to do after the feast is wash your dish. Watch secondhand stores for a bread maker that has a wide loaf, rather than an upright compact loaf, and make Bread Maker Whole Wheat Loaf Bread!
| Serving Tips for a Plant-Based Thanksgiving Serve Finger Salad or Charcuterie Board: Offer a fresh, light starter like a finger salad or Plant-Based Charcuterie Board, which can include favorites like French Onion Dip or Dill Dip.Plate Thoughtfully: Place Dry Steamed Kale near Creamy Mashed Potatoes by the Pound and Mushroom Gravy or Basic Brown Gravy for layers of flavor and texture.Stuffin Muffins: Let Stuffin Muffins cool slightly for easy removal from the ceramic muffin tin and to ensure the bottoms are brown and the tops are crunchy. Break them up on the plate.Serve Hot Gravy: Everything can be room temperature, but the gravy should be piping hot. Use a soup terrine or slow cooker to keep it hot during the meal. Ladle hot gravy over plated food. Follow the Air-Fried Mushrooms recipe rather than Dry Browning for hands-off flavor.Garnish with Cranberries and Pomegranate Arils: Add pomegranate arils to Green Bean Tray-Bake Casserole for a festive touch and even more protection. Layer cranberries in the bottom of the Holiday Loaf pan, bake, then serve inverted. Spoon Classic Cranberry Sauce over top.Offer Probiotics: Offer Probiotic Pepper Sauce to complement the meal and add a tangy flavor. Be sure to remove the lid from Ruby Raw Kraut ahead of time to dissipate the smell.Don’t Forget the Pie: No-Bake Banana Cream Pie and No-Bake Pumpkin Cream Pie are the perfect way to end the meal. Make sure to serve them as a delightful, guilt-free treat. Navigating a Mixed Table: “Secure Your Own Mask First” You might face family members or friends who challenge you on your practice. Just let it go in one ear and out the other. Keep your promise to yourself. If you are not a shining example yet, you soon will be. Don’t cave to peer pressure and eat junk in front of them because then they will lose respect for what you are doing. They will lose respect for your commitment and continue to challenge you. You want to build a reputation for being a healthy eater who doesn’t deviate, even on holidays. They may try to pressure you to do what they are doing because they feel awkward eating “real” pumpkin pie while you are sitting there glowing, healthy, and fit. They might say things that aren’t very nice to make themselves feel better. They may say your life is boring. No! Your life is full—full of energy and the ability to do things like climb rocks! Detox and feed those healthy microbes so they will be your resident health coaches over the holidays. The most important thing is that you practice your Protective Diet 100%. | Leftovers? Make Holiday Casserole Use glass containers for easy reheating. Prepare one large casserole or individual portions. Layer in order: -Stuffin Muffins, broken -Frozen Green Beans and Corn -Sliced Holiday Loaf, optional -Gravy—be generous -Mashed Potato scoops Cool. Cover and refrigerate. | ||
| Reheat Instructions: Take leftovers out of the fridge about an hour before reheating to bring them to room temperature. Set to bake at 400°F. Check after 15 -20 minutes. The gravy should be bubbling. The Breville cooks faster than a traditional oven, so check at 15. To check if the middle is hot, place a fork in the center for 10 seconds. Remove the fork and, with your fingers, feel if the fork is hot. The top of the potatoes will be golden and crispy like Shepard’s Pie. | |||
| Average Weight Loss on a Protective Diet You are ahead of the curve. Most people won’t start being concerned about their health until the new year. By that time, you are going to be unrecognizable. You will need a whole new wardrobe. The weight falls off in clusters at an average of 10lbs a month. My brother dropped 10lbs in just 10 days of fasting and feasting with us. | Ingredients to Have on Hand for the Holidays: Poultry Seasoning Plant-Based Broth Mix Organic Tamari | ||
| Encouragement and Support You still have time to get a massive jumpstart on your goals for 2025. There is so much we can do when we put our mind to it. Count the days you are consistently eating a Protective Diet, or consistently Day Fasting if that is a practice you want to dive into. Stop treating disease and start treating your body for optimal health with a Protective Diet. We are here to support you every single day in our support group, on Protective Diet Living (Facebook), and twice a week here in the Protective Diet Education classroom (Tuesdays and Saturdays). We are here to encourage you and answer your personal questions. | |||
“You have the awareness. Don’t put it second, don’t put it last. Don’t put it aside because of peer pressure this holiday season. Be a walking billboard of health. Follow through. You will be unrecognizable by Valentine’s Day.”
