This beautiful dessert is breakfast in camouflage. Leave it to me to come up with a pie you can eat for breakfast!

I’ve always been a fan of pie, but this one is special to me. The aroma is amazing, the crust is wonderful and I love the fact that I could eat an entire one daily (if I wanted to) and stay on plan. I prefer one slice with a side of Protective Diet French Vanilla Nice Cream, please
My first pie is in the oven! No stevia or sweetener. Smells so good! When I was pressing the crust, I could hardly keep from eating all the mixture as it was, yummie!\
This was the very first PD recipe I made. I was so surprise that I could have something that tasted this good and yet be on a diet? I’ve since learned this is a lifestyle and a way of eating, it definitely is not a diet. And this pie proves that ! Gaining health and losing weight eating apple pie!!!
Can I use strawberries frozen? How would I thicken it?
Strawberries would be great! Use the Blueberry Pie Recipe and swap for frozen or fresh Strawberries.
I tried this tonight and it was very good however, I will make some changes the next time I bake it to tweak it more to our family’s tastes. I plan on cutting the crust recipe in half so it is not so thick. Also, I will use my apple peeler/corer/slicer to slice the apple into thinner slices. I did cut the stevia in half but, it still had the aftertaste. May try eliminating it.
I’ve made many versions of the pie and they have all come out tasting great. The last pie I made was the apple as I’m not a big apple fan, but I have to say this was delicious! I had it for breakfast for a week and enjoyed it every day. Once it cools it stays together as nicely as any pie I’ve ever made. Highly recommend this pie.
I bet the filling would be a killer over oatmeal…
It is!!!
I will admit, I was skeptical when I saw the ingredients and how easy it looked in the video. If you bake the pie the night before, the next morning you can feed your family in no time flat! This recipe was a total hit and it’s inspired me to make other pies from the PD website. Thanks for saving breakfast for this busy family Julie Marie 🙂
So good. I can’t wait for the rest of my family to try it (my husband says yay….now to hear back from my 2 kids). Thank you for this great recipe!
I really don’t like the taste of stevia and don’t have any in the house. Can I substitute esugar and if so what’s the conversion ratio?
Ok, I registered and logged in and I still can not see the Directions for this 🙁

Marlene, I can’t get the recipes either! It says I’m logged in but when I try to get the recipe, it tells me that I must register or log in…. it’s soooooo frustrating!
A M A Z I N G !!!!! It’s delicious warm or cold. I can’t believe this is good for me and I can eat it as dessert or breakfast…Julie you rock!!!!
Very easy to make and love the sauce/filling, I actually could’ve just eaten it with the cut up apples! lol
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this a 100! It is absolutely divine! Another awesome recipe by Julie! I ate a slice during tonight’s class. (side note: Sign up for PD-Ed if you haven’t already!) The crust is delicious! It was my first time ever actually making oat flour – wayyyyy too easy. This apple pie is 10,000 times easier, healthier and tastier than a SAD version! I think the presentation is beautiful as well. Thanks, Julie!
