I gave my favorite summertime sandwich a major makeover. It has the smoky salty flavor of bacon, the creaminess of the mayo, and the freshness of a garden tomato.

Um, what do I do with the rest of the 12oz can of tomato paste?
posted by Julie Marie on January 2, 2017
Freeze it in a baggie for later use. Most cans of paste are 6 ounces, but if I have leftovers I freeze it.

Can I just say I LOVE THIS RECIPE! It really helps me get my salad in. I use the faux bacon in my salad with ranch! OMGosh its so good! All the flavors I can’t get enough. I have a hard time eating salads but not with Faux bacon! YUMMY!

I actually like adding this to tofu hashbrown scramble. Or on top of salads.

I just made these for dinner tonight. They were a huge hit!

These were excellent. I baked my faux bacon for 30 minutes and it was just starting to get crispy and blackened on the edges. I will probably try 35 minutes next time, but watch it closely. I used leftover bacon in a PD whole wheat pita with the Skinny Chik’n salad. Great sandwich combination.

I went to a lot of effort to make this and it came out burnt . I may try again someday but cut the cooking time way down.

I’m sorry the timing was off for you. I will adjust the cooking time to avoid future burnt bacon! The browning is important for flavor and texture, but black and burned isn’t good. Thank you for this post!

I am making this tonight. Will comment on final outcome a little later. Just had to say that when I come back to this page (over and over) it ALWAYS makes me think of the old disco song by Donna Summer entitled “Hot Stuff”. Then I go around the kitchen for the next hour singing “hot stuff”. Keep it up! Music and dinner from the same site!

I forgot to mention I also made your chia seed burgers, and they are my favorite veggie burgers I’ve ever made!

We just had this for lunch along with your potato salad and baked beans. I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. My husband and I could not get over how much this tastes like a real BLT. Even your mayo is excellent! I’ve been a bit obsessed with your website this week. In one week, I’ve made these three recipes plus your pesto, tomato cream sauce, chocolate banana things, blueberry muffins, apple muffins, zucchini bread, pot roast, and baked mac and cheese. Each recipe is outstanding! Thank you so much!!!
