Broiled Veggie Ingredients:
- 1 small to medium green cabbage, chopped or shredded as pictured
- 1 onion, diced
Pressure Cooked Noodles Ingredients:
- 3 ⅔ cups filtered water
- 1 pound/16 oz semolina pasta, any shape
Butter Sauce Ingredients:
- 1½ cups plain unsweetened organic soy milk
- 1 Tablespoon PD Plant-Based Broth Mix
- 1 Tablespoon dried chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt, optional but recommended
- Several grinds black pepper
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds, optional Russian twist
Directions:
- Read recipe description, watch the video, read all Directions and Notes
- Dice onion and chop or shred cabbage
- Add both to an unlined stainless sheet pan (see photo examples)
- Place under the broiler on high for 10 to 15 minutes, or until top edges are browned and blackened with a char. This builds flavor, texture, and sweetens the ingredients
Broil Directions for Breville Smart Air Pro Oven:
Broil on top rack set to “High Broil” for 10 to 15 minutes, or until top edges are browned and blackened with char
Broil Directions for Standard Oven:
Broil for 10 minutes, or until top edges are browned and blackened with char
Pressure Cook The Pasta
- While onions and cabbage are broiling, pour measured 3 ⅔ cups of water into electric pressure cooker bowl
- Add one full pound of dried pasta and stir
- Check that the seal is in place and secure lid with the pressure valve down or closed
- Set to cook under high pressure—6 minutes for larger shaped pasta, or 5 minutes for spaghetti that is broken into short pieces or small elbow macaroni; have a towel handy for quick pressure release
- While pasta is cooking, add Butter Sauce Ingredients into a bowl and set aside
- Listen for the Instant Pot end chime
- Once cooking has ended, turn off the keep warm setting, place towel over steam valve, and open to release pressure
- Open lid and swiftly add Butter Sauce along with broiled onions and cabbage
Stir well, cover, and wait 2 minutes for the cabbage and onions to soften and the sauce to attach to the starchy pasta - One final stir and enjoy

- Dress it up table-side with your favorite Protective Diet gourmet garnishes:

This is our new favorite recipe! I could eat this every week especially since it’s so easy to make as well. I really liked it with the caraway seeds. It gave it a very authentic flavor. Yum!!
