Hushpuppies Premium PD Recipe

These oil-free Hushpuppies taste and look totally deep fried! My brother and I have fond memories enjoying them as kids. Only two pups were served to us with a batter fried fish dinner. They were the best part of the whole meal and we wished we could have more. Now we can have a whole basket full of these crunchy nuggets loaded with whole grain corn.

I love these! I didn’t grow up with them but I will be making up for lost time! I tried them with Frank’s Hot Sauce, Creamy Ranch Dressing, and even the Onion & Chive Creamy Cheeze. My favorite was with Not-Yo Cheeze Sauce and pico de gallo.

I have a smooth top electric stove and the burners stay really hot, so after it came to a boil, I actually had to remove the pan from the burner and stir frequently while the burner cooled down.

When I went to roll them into balls, I decided to try to use my cookie scoop (I have a Pampered Chef medium scoop which holds about 2 Tbsp.). I got it wet and it worked perfectly!

I need to make these again soon because I think that they’d be really good with the French Onion Dip, too!

Can they be frozen and reheated?

I haven’t tried it yet. I’ve never had any left over to freeze. If you give it a try, let us know.

Delicious! Huge hit with the kids! Never had hush puppies before but they are so good. Crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. They were really easy to make; Julie’s instructional video was so helpful. This recipe does take time, 1 hour 30 min but that is really just cooking time. Well worth the time. Loved them!

Gosh, in a meal with crabby cakes and a side of cole slaw, you would think you’re eating out at a famous seafood restaurant!

This is one of my kids’ favorite recipes! They love it with the Killer Ketchup. Yum! I’ll have to try it with the Not Yo Cheeze Sauce, as mentioned above. I’m addicted to that sauce. 🙂

This recipe is so easy. I used my small cookie scoop, and it made 96, they were like hush puppy poppers, we paired them with popcorn ” shrimp” and creamy cucumber salad. I really wanted coleslaw, but didnt have any cabbage on hand. We almost ate them all, they are so good.
