Italian “Sausage” Premium PD Recipe
Sweet or hot is all you needed to know when ordering sausage at an Italian market in Chicago. Served layered in a bun with Red Sauce, grilled onions, and topped with your choice of sweet or hot peppers. Growing up, my mother’s red sauce would simmer all day on the lowest flame while she was out tending to the garden. It frequently included a couple of seared Italian sausages to add flavor. Chicago pizza wasn’t complete without Italian Sausage. Thankfully we have a fantastic fat free, whole-food, gluten-free, plant-based Protective Diet version.
