Coffee and Diet Soda

This class empowers you to eliminate your dependency on coffee and diet soda. Action Steps for Eliminating Coffee & Soda

  • Understand the Truth About Coffee & Soda

Coffee

  • Acidic in the body causing inflammation, endothelial breakdown and disease.
  • Deceptive marketing leads consumers to believe coffee beans are loaded with antioxidants.

– All beans are loaded with anti-oxidants. The difference is coffee is acidic.

– There are many healthier ways to get antioxidants without causing the acidity in our system.

  • Don’t think it’s okay to be addicted to coffee because it’s good for you. That is like saying wine is good for you when you could go straight to grapes for antioxidant benefits, eliminating the alcohol and its negative effects.
  • Coffee causes sweats/irritability/fatigue/mood swings, due to the daily detox and withdrawal of a system dependent on caffeine, sugar and other food additives that are included in coffee add-ins.
  • Afternoon Crash–Withdrawal leads to cravings in the afternoon, which can only be answered with high caloric foods or more coffee. Then detox & withdrawal again throughout the night with night sweats.
  • Usually the first beverage you are drinking in the morning; a liquid, internal acid wash for your body. Your body fasted all night and the first thing to enter your system is something that is demoting your health.
  • Black Coffee=Black Devil; changes your personality every day.

Diet Soda

  • Aspartame: the main ingredient in diet soda.

– Found in over 6000 food products on the market, despite reports of 7000 different adverse reactions reported to the FDA.

– 67% were neurological, behavioral symptoms: depression, seizures, headaches, changes in mood/behavior, fuzzy thinking.

– Causes brain tumors in lab animals.

– Despite having FDA approval, reviews of safety tests revealed bias, dishonesty & sloppy science.

  • Intake of diet soda increased risk of preterm birth and it was proven this was not due to caffeine.
  • Unexplained chronic pain associated with Aspartame-induced fibromyalgia.

Physical Addiction

  • Diet soda contains no sugar and has no caloric value. Why are people so hooked on it?
  • The deadly combination of caffeine and aspartame creates a short, addictive, chemical high similar to that of cocaine.

– Excitotoxins cause a brain cell to become overexcited and fire uncontrollably, leading to cell death.

– Shown to freely penetrate certain brain regions and rapidly destroy neurons.

– Exhaust your brain by overstimulating its neuro receptors, especially when consumed on a regular basis.

  • Cravings for more coke come from the release of 2 neurotransmitters in the brain: dopamine and glutamate.

– Caffeine and aspartame increase dopamine levels. Aspartic acid raises the blood level of aspartame and glutamate.

Psychological Addiction–Emotional dependency on a substance; may be triggered by thoughts, feelings & circumstances.

Additional Damage

  • Rotten Teeth & Brittle Bones: phosphoric acid attacks the enamel on your teeth & the minerals in your bones.
  • Withered and weakened skin, muscles & heart overtime.

Make a Decision

  • Complete the 30-day Detox—eat on-plan foods in unlimited amounts. Satisfy your cravings with on-plan foods.
  • Don’t take baby steps. Small steps make it hard. Jump! Go for the best because that is going to produce motivating results.
  • Choose to detox on a weekend/day off so you have time to rest. Follow through and do it only one time.
  • You are going to experience withdrawal. Throwing in a cup of coffee will not help you out. It will slow your progress.

Eliminate Coffee & Soda

  • Cold-brewed coffee, (67% less acidity than regular coffee).
  • We eliminate everything that is going cause endothelial breakdown without equal or greater benefit. This is very important for optimal health.

Replace Caffeine

  • Do not switch to decaf. Decaffeinated coffee still causes an acidic environment that promotes disease & inflammation.
  • Replace coffee with the alkaline antioxidants of black tea, at a fraction of the caffeine.
  • Replace soda with an erythritol or stevia sweetened PD Beverage. Adjust the sweetness level to your liking and monitor your taste buds for changes overtime. Eventually you won’t need the sweetener.

Keep the Ritual

  • Set yourself up for success by having the ingredients to make a PD Beverage. Treat yourself.
  • Plain sparkling additive-free mineral water (NO natural flavor or citric acid); Pellegrino hydrates with a sparkling finish.
  • Add Simple Syrup to beverages. Add a lemon or some sprigs of fresh herbs.
  • Flower Water—high in minerals and loaded with antioxidants. Don’t exceed 1 qt. per day due to high mineral content.
  • Be mindful of circumstances that might cause a relapse.

– A change of season: can bring back the psychological addiction of past coffeehouse rituals.

– A late night project: Get up and get a cold beverage. Walk around the room a couple of times. Take a walk and come back.

Get your blood pumping rather than douse your body with a beverage that’s going to tax your body even more or cause you to lose sleep when you need quality sleep for the next day.

  • Learn about self-care and compassion: take a nap or go for a walk to refresh instead of forcing yourself through life on an acidic stimulant. Pamper yourself. Take naps. Ask for help.
  • This is a massive undertaking that is going to give you a more even mood and make you better at every role you have in life.
